A black and white movie titled Siti, directed by Eddie Cahyono, won the Best Film award on Monday at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI).
The 91-minute film portrays the life and psychological conflicts of a married woman forced to work as a karaoke hostess at Parangtritis beach in Yogyakarta. It defeated four other nominees including A Copy of My Mind, directed by Joko Anwar, and Toba Dreams, directed by Benni Setiawan.
The producer, Ifa Isfansyah, received the award from the Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan during FFI's awards night at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE ) center in BSD City, South Tangerang, Banten.
