Based on the results of a survey conducted by the ministry’s research and development department on travel demand during this year’s Idul Fitri holidays, which were revealed at the ministry’s office in Jakarta on Monday, there will be around 27,894,914 home-bound travelers this year, or an increase of around 6.99 percent compared to last year.
“This survey was held in 12 provinces in Indonesia, which are the agglomeration area where most of the home-bound travelers’ journeys will take place,” Elly Andriani Sinaga, head of the ministry’s research and development department, said.
The survey covered areas from the islands of Sumatra to Sulawesi, including North Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi and Bali.
