The 34th Bo Sang Umbrella Festival, the three-day carnival, which will be held in Bo Sang Village near Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, will open this Friday (20/1).
The festival that has been in existence for over 100 years takes place on the third week of every January and is a celebration of umbrella making in Bo Sang. It also displays bands, beauty contest and food festivals.
Indonesia took part in the festival for the first time in 2016, following a sister-festival program signed between the Bo Sang Umbrella Festival and the annual Festival Payung Indonesia (Indonesian Umbrella Festival). The festival has been annually held in Surakarta, Central Java.
