Songket is a traditional Indonesian fabric intricately patterned with gold or silver thread. Usually, songket is used as sarongs, scarves or decoration head.

But now, songket has been able to be part of fashion statement. According to Dian Pelangi artwork entitled " Royal of kingdoms”  that will soon exhibited in Haute Northern Arabia High Tea 2014 in London.

Even though it has change to modern fashion, Dian suggested to use songket appropiately. Dian gave tips how to wear songket that good and upright to cultural values in songket is still adheres.

"For eg., a handmade songket would be better if you wearing it as a woven or a shawl due to its cultural values. But, if songket, woven uses machines with even more modern, thin and not waned, it is not a problem made clothes," she said when interviewed in the Sapta Pesona building, Thursday (9/1).

Use songket appropiate. Should they can only be used to be turned into a fashion model, for example songket was changed to a blazer or jacket. When it was changed to a blazer, then it could not be combined with others materials.

"You can combined with other material only for underclothing, the skirt or its gown. It can be combined with a luxurious materials is also rich silk, satin and just to keep its exclusivity," said Dian.

Such as, For example, that Dian put on that day. Dian wearing blazer that was made from songket, while for its underclothing is wearing silk material.
